Corrected Results Posted

The results should be official.  You can see the corrected results HERE.

Unofficial Wild Duluth Results Posted

The unofficial Wild Duluth race results have been posted HERE.  We are missing two runners in the 100K and one in the Half Marathon.  Please contact us if you are one of them and we will get the official results finished.  We need to find finishers 43 and 44 in the 100K with times of 19:15:10 and 19:15:11.  I think I remember who this was, but want to confirm.  Also need to find the 58th finisher in the Half Marathon with a finishing time of 2:54:29.  Please contact us if you know who these finishers are.

Thank you runners for making Wild Duluth wild and wonderful once again! We are truly blessed by the

weather Gods! The day was very nice and not nearly as bad as the forecast.  Sunday ended up being a rainy day from start to finish.

Once again it was a pleasure to watch all of you cross the finish line and help you out along the way.  It was fun talking to some kids and aid station volunteers who had never seen an ultramarathon before and listen to their excitement when seeing these friendly runners pass through.  Our 15 year old son had a lot of fun working the Spirit Mtn aid station with some of his friends this year.  And, after packet pick up on Friday, he said in all sincerity, "Ultrarunners are the nicest people, if you were going to categorize them, you would say they are the nicest people."  Great to hear from a teenager and what a tremendous compliment to our community!

And a HUGE, HUGE shout out to our wonderful volunteers!!! From our trail markers, to our timers, to our aid station crews, to Eric Nordgren who ran around the course all day, to our tireless sweeps and of course our HAM radio operators!!! The majority of our positive comments were about our great volunteers. Kim and I thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!!!

Aid Station Chart Updated

The aid station chart has been updated to reflect minor changes to the 2013 Wild Duluth 50K and 100K race courses.  Please use the chart below for the 2013 races.

Also, please note that there will be no crew access at the Spirit Mtn. Aid Station.  Runners will come down and cross the base of the ski hill near the new lodge at the bottom of the hill.  Follow flagging and the SHT back into the woods and then a little less than 1/2 mile to the aid station.  Crews may park in the parking lot at the lodge at the bottom of the ski hill and we will be allowing them to see their runners near the lodge just before the aid station.  Crews may also walk with their runner from the parking lot/lodge area to the aid station.  There will be about 1/2 mile of legal crew contact between the lodge/parking lot at the base of the ski hill to the Spirit Mtn. aid station.  Runners may also stop for a beer and a burger at the lodge restaurant in lieu of the aid station (on your dime of course!) :-)

Course & Registration Update

Hello runners!  Hope your summer running season went well and you're looking forward to the cooler Fall temps and great Fall running races.

Registration is going well and we're slightly ahead of numbers for this time last year in the 100K, way above numbers from last year at this time in the 50K, and slightly below numbers for the 1/2 marathon at this time last year.  See who's registered here:  http://www.runrace.net/findarace.php?id=13292MN

As for the course, we'll be back to a course much closer to our original course.  However, I had earlier anticipated Oldenburg Point being open by October.  As of now, Oldenburg Point, our traditional 50K start and 100K turnaround, will not be open until November.  We're looking at a new 50K start and 100K turnaround location for 2013.  It's looking likely that we will start the race on the Willard Munger Trail in Thompson at the City Hall or at the Willard Munger parking lot closer to Carlton.  This would mean that the start of the 50K would involve mostly a flat paved trail for the first 3.5 miles before hitting the dirt in Jay Cooke State Park.  This would likely make the course a little faster but perhaps a bit less enjoyable to run.  It would make a good start location and we would be using the exact same course for Wild Duluth as we have in the past except for the 3.5 miles at the start of the 50K and turnaround for the 100K.  Once we have this route finalized, we'll post maps and directions to the start and turnaround location.  See you in October!
